During a time of sorrow, it helps when we remind
ourselves that death is a part of life, and every
one of us is connected to the eternal flow of life,
death, and rebirth. We remind ourselves by
seeking signs of the renewal that inevitably
follows a death. For example, we know that
when we are attending a funeral, babies are
being born at that very moment.
To help provide those important reassurances
of the continuation of life, we can offer each
funeral attendee a lovely bookmark with seeds
embedded in the paper. The planting of this
bookmark with seeds, and the joy we
experience as we watch them grow,
are tributes to the person who has
died, and signs of the fact that life,
in many ways, is everlasting.
