John Busch |
John M. Busch is a 3rd generation funeral director. John has helped numerous organizations with his time and talents. A Kiwanian, a Senior Race Officer for sailboat race events, a recognized national and international leader of Selected Independent Funeral Homes and a computer wizard. John and his wife Marcy live in Avon Lake and have four children, including Mark and Jim who are co-owners of Busch Funeral and Crematory Services. They also have 5 grand children. |
James H. Busch |
James H. Busch. Jim is the 4th generation funeral director of Busch Funeral and Crematory Services and is co-owner with his brother, Mark. After graduating from Valley Forge High School in 1982, he furthered his education by graduating from Hiram College in 1986 with a communications major and theater minor. Jim makes his home in Avon Lake with his wife Becky (nee Burmeister) and three children: Hannah, a sophomore at Ohio State University; Sarah, a senior at Avon Lake High School and Jacob, a sophomore the high school. Professional memberships include Selected Independent Funeral Homes, Ohio Funeral Directors Association and Cremation Association of North America. Throughout Jim’s life he has always been an active member of his community. He is past president and founding member of the Northeast Ohio Bereavement Council. Jim is a past trustee of Eliza Jennings as well as the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice. He served on the steering committee for MetroHealth Senior Health and Wellness Center for the Old Brooklyn community. He is past president of Brooklyn Kiwanis Club where he received the Hixson Fellowship award. Jim is currently the community liaison for the West Side Ecumenical Ministry (WSEM) Food Center at Brookside and serves on the WSEM Advisory Board. He is a Cleveland Yachting Club trustee. As an active member of Bay Presbyterian Church, he has served as an Elder and is currently on the Board of Directors. Jim enjoys spending time with his family and cheering for his kids’ events and teams. His favorite hobbies include fishing, boating, golf and basketball. |
J. Mark Busch |
J. Mark Busch. Mark and his brother Jim are co-owners of Busch Funeral and Crematory Services. In addition to his lifetime work at Busch Funeral and Crematory Services, Mark worked a summer at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home in Norfolk, Virginia and a brief study on funeral and cemetery pre-arrangement at Forest Park in Houston, Texas. Mark, his wife Jennifer reside in Westlake where his children Jordan and Marissa attend school. Mark is a 1982 graduate of Heidelberg College and an Ohio funeral director since 1984. He is Vice-President of Busch Funeral and Crematory Services, President of Normandy Insurance Agency, Inc., and serves as a trustee to numerous non-profit organizations. He currently serves the Ohio Funeral Directors Association (Mortuary Response Team Member), and has served the Funeral Service Educational Foundation as Past Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Mark is also a member of Selected Independent Funeral Homes, CANA and ICFA. He has been a featured speaker at numerous Funeral Profession conferences throughout the country. |
Roger Berry |
Roger attended school at Saint Ignatius and West High Schools. He started his career in the family business in 1954. Roger attended Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Sciences and graduated from Baldwin Wallace College receiving his funeral directors license in 1962. In 1962, Roger and his brother Dan took over the family business and became the 2nd generation of Berry funeral directors. Roger is a 49 year member of the Elks Club, a member of the American Legion, a member of the Westwood Country Club, past member of the Board of Mental Retardation and past member of the Board of Pioneer Savings and Loan. Roger and his wife Nancy have 6 children; Kathleen, Shelia, Nancy, Roger Jr. Mark and Tim. Roger and Nancy reside in Westlake. |
William C. Burmeister |
In the fall of 1986, the Burmeister Funeral Homes, with a heritage of 50 years and two locations, Avon and Avon Lake, became a part of Busch Funeral and Crematory Services. The Avon and Avon Lake funeral homes are under the careful direction of the Busch Family, William Burmeister, and his staff. William C. Burmeister was born in Cleveland and raised in Avon Lake. Since 1964, Bill and his wife have lived in the residence quarters of the Busch funeral home in Avon. Bill's parents, Frederick and Dorothy, founded the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel in Avon Lake in 1946 and Bill has spent his entire life involved in funeral service. A graduate of Avon Lake High School, Bill also attended Kent State University and the Pittsburgh College of Mortuary Science. He has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1964. Bill and his wife have two children. One of his sons, William M. is a funeral director and part of the Busch team. Bill is a member of Avon United Methodist Church and is also active with the Avon Lake Kiwanis Club. In his free time, Bill enjoys boating, fishing, and old cars. Bill firmly states that as a funeral service professional, his philosophy is to "treat people as you would expect to be treated." |
William M. Burmeister |
Bill is the son of William C. and Carol Burmeister and is a third generation funeral director. He grew up in the residence quarters of the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel in Avon and now resides with his family above the Busch Funeral Home in Avon Lake. A 1983 graduate of Avon High School, Bill was awarded an Associates Degree from Lorain County Community College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Kent State University. He has been a licensed funeral director since 1992 Bill is married to another Busch team member, Meghan, who is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. Together they enjoy spending time with their son Otto, walking their dog and their shared interests in movies, music and reading. Bill also enjoys drawing, fishing and the outdoors. He feels that as a funeral director his role is to provide information to families allowing them to make the decisions that they are most comfortable with during a very difficult time, and in doing the extra things that are above the expected. |
Jeff Hogan |
Jeff is a native of Elyria and has been an area resident all of his life. Married with four children, he attended Elyria City Schools graduating from Elyria High School in 1980. He then furthered his education at Mount Vernon Nazarene College in Mount Vernon, Ohio, and graduated in 1984 with a degree in Business Management. He worked for five years in retail management and then, in 1990, he decided to enter funeral profession. In 1991, Jeff graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and also received his funeral director's and embalmers license. He joined the Busch Funeral and Crematory Service team that year and in 1996 became the Senior Funeral Director of the Elyria funeral home. Jeff has a genuine desire to help people and to meet their needs at the most difficult time in their lives when facing the loss of a loved one. Jeff, his wife Melinda and their children are very active members of the Elyria Nazarene Church. He is a member of the Lorain County Funeral Directors Association, as well as the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce. |
Robert Solich |
Born in Parma and raised in Brook Park, Bob graduated from Midpark High School and attended Kent State University and Cuyahoga Community College. He joined the team at Busch Funeral and Crematory Services in 1983 and serves as the manager of our Fairview Park funeral home. His philosophy is to educate families on the diverse service options available and to give them the freedom to choose the way in which their family and friends say goodbye to the loved one who was a significant part of their lives. Bob makes his home in Lakewood and attends Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in the Tremont neighborhood of Cleveland, OH. |
Ted Kirsh |
Ted is a native of Galion, Ohio and is a 1989 graduate of Colonel Crawford High School in North Robinson, Ohio. He attended community college in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and then earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mortuary Science in 1994 from The Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, which at that time, was located on Xavier University's Campus. Ted is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer and has been on the Busch Funeral and Crematory Service's staff since August 1999. Ted, his wife and children live in Brunswick Hills. Ted enjoys spending time with his family and friends, snow skiing, playing basketball and football, and camping and canoeing. |
John Shook |
John is a 1982 graduate of Canfield High School and attended Youngstown State University. John began his career at age 16 working at Davis Funeral Home in Boardman, Ohio. While attending Youngstown State University, he decided to make Funeral Service a career. John continued working with Davis Funeral Home until he joined the staff at Busch in 1995. John and his wife, Paola make their home in Avon Lake. He is an active member in the community and currently serves as Advisor to the Avon Lake High School Key Club (he is the Founding Advisor), Board Member of the Greater Years/Beachpark Tower Senior Living Community, Member of the Steering Committee of the American Cancer Society's Avon/Avon Lake Relay for Life and Member of the North Coast Regional Chamber of Commerce. John is also Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Boardman, Ohio, Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Avon Lake, and Past Lt. Governor of the Lorain County Kiwanis Clubs. John enjoys golf, jet skiing and time outdoors, especially on the shores of Lake Erie. |
Meghan Burmeister |
Meghan has been a member of our team for over ten years. She first joined us as an associate, working part-time while attending college, and then later as an apprentice Funeral Director and Embalmer. She is now a licensed Funeral Director, Embalmer, and Crematory Operator; however, her full time responsibility keeps her at the Fairview Park Chapel, directing funerals, and meeting with families. She is a 1998 graduate of Mount Union College and a 2000 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. In May of 2003, she married another member of our team, William M. Burmeister. They make their home in Avon Lake and enjoy walking their dog and their shared interests in movies, music, reading, and spending time with family and friends. In 2005 they welcomed a son, Otto, into the family. |
William R. Pierce |
A native of Painesville, Ohio, Bill has a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Union College in Kentucky, and a Master of Divinity from Methodist Theological School in Delaware, Ohio. Bill is a retired United Methodist pastor of 28 years, a Licensed Insurance Agent and Social Worker, a Certified Pre-Planning Counselor and a Licensed Funeral Director. Bill and his wife Peggy reside in Fairview Park where they enjoy traveling, decorating their home, and special times with family and friends. In his free time, Bill enjoys writing poetry, collecting American Indian field tools, fishing, family genealogy and meeting and working with people from all walks of life. One of his favorite quotations is an Indian Proverb that reads, "When you were born, you cried, and the world rejoiced. Live your life in such a manner that when you die the world cries and you rejoice." |
Joseph R. Sciuva |
Joe was born and raised in Moreland Hills, Ohio and has been a resident of the Cleveland area all his life. Joe has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 2002. He is a graduate of Pointe Park University in Pittsburgh, PA. with a Bachelors of Arts and also Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Joe lives in Parma and is a parishioner of St. Joan Of Arc Catholic Church. Joe enjoys his three dogs, landscaping, traveling and hanging out with family and friends. |
Thomas V. Conway |
Tom attended the University of Dayton for most of his undergraduate studies. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Charter Oak College, University of Connecticut, New Britain Connecticut. After a successful career in the foodservice and beverage industries, working in various management positions in both wholesale food distribution and the importing and sale of fine wines, Tom embarked on a new career in funeral service. In 2002, he joined Busch Funeral and Crematory Service as a funeral associate; he then started as an apprentice funeral director in January of 2006, and became fully licensed in February of 2008. Tom is currently our location manager of our Cleveland and Parma funeral homes. Tom makes his home in Strongsville with his wife of 30 years Joyce and his three children, where they attend St. Colette Catholic Church. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, music, travel, and working in his yard. |
